The Department of Psychiatry, Regional Resource and Training Centre (RRCC), and Drug Treatment Centre (DTC), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, today observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at the Psychiatry OPD, New OPD Block, RIMS, Imphal. The programme was organized under the global theme, “World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses.”
The program was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal in the presence of Dr. S. Gojendra Singh, Head, Department of Psychiatry and Nodal Officer of RRCC & DTC, RIMS, Ms. Th. Indira Devi, DTC Regional Coordinator, RRCC, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, Dr. R. K. Lenin Singh, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, and Dr. L. Roshan Singh, Assistant Professor Dept. of Clinical Psychology, RIMS, Imphal
In his address, Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, emphasized the importance of collective action against drug abuse and said, “On this International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and awareness. Together, through compassion, collaboration, and innovation, we can build a healthier, drug-free society and empower our youth to lead productive lives.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, staff, students, nursing personnel, and patients’ attendants. The observance reaffirmed RIMS Imphal’s unwavering commitment to creating awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, enhancing prevention and treatment services, and promoting collaborative efforts to combat the challenges of illicit drug use in society.
