The Kangliepak Students’ Association (KSA) has urged the Manipur Government to upgrade DM Community College/Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra (DDUKK) into a full-fledged Skill University instead of merging it under Dhanamanjuri University.
In a statement issued by its Secretary (Publicity), Sinam James Khuman, the KSA said the institution has played a key role in promoting skill-based education and generating employment opportunities for youths in Manipur.
Expressing concern over reports of a possible merger or closure, the association alleged that the college is facing multiple challenges, including delays in admissions, uncertainty in the academic calendar, shortage of faculty, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of functional equipment for practical training.
The KSA also claimed that delays in examinations and academic activities have affected students, while issues relating to registration with the State Allied and Healthcare Council (SAHC) and the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) have hindered higher education prospects for graduates.
Urging immediate government intervention, the association called for strengthening the institution through the introduction of additional skill-oriented courses and its upgradation into a Skill University. It also appealed to the public to support the proposal, stating that such a move would expand educational and employment opportunities for the youth of the state.
