Shija Hospital conducts ENT awareness programme on allergic rhinitis

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Imphal, organised an awareness programme on Allergic Rhinitis at the RBI office premises on Thursday as part of its ongoing efforts to promote public health awareness and preventive healthcare.

The programme was attended by around 25 staff members of the RBI, Imphal office. The awareness session was conducted by Dr. Sonee Thingujam, Consultant ENT Surgeon at Shija Hospitals, who holds an MS in ENT and is a Fellow in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

During the session, Dr. Sonee highlighted various aspects of allergic disorders, with special focus on Allergic Rhinitis, a common condition affecting the nose and upper respiratory tract. He explained the causes and mechanisms of hypersensitivity reactions, common symptoms associated with allergies, and the role of environmental and seasonal allergens in triggering allergic conditions.

The consultant also discussed the concept of global airway disease and elaborated on the relationship between allergic rhinitis, sinus disorders and respiratory conditions such as asthma. Participants were informed about preventive measures, early diagnosis and available treatment options to effectively manage allergic conditions and improve quality of life.

The programme featured an interactive question-and-answer session during which participants raised queries related to allergy management, lifestyle modifications and treatment approaches. The session concluded with free on-the-spot consultations, enabling participants to seek expert advice on ENT and allergy-related concerns
