9th Athoubasinggi Ningsing Numit observed by Koireng-led UNLF

The Koireng-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) today observed the “9th Suba Athoubasinggi Ningsing Numit” across different parts of Manipur and outside the state in remembrance of its deceased members who had sacrificed their lives in the movement for the motherland.
According to a statement issued by M. Shak-Hen, the memorial observance was conducted separately at the party’s Central Headquarters (CHQ), District Committees, Branch Committees, External Affairs Headquarters, LAKSA (External Affairs), as well as at the General Headquarters, battalions and sub-units of the UNLF’s armed wing, the Manipur People’s Army (MPA).
The statement said the memorial day was observed collectively amid the prevailing difficult situation being faced by the people and the land. However, due to the inability to organise a mass public observance under the current circumstances, the programmes were held separately by various party and military units.
As part of the observance, tributes were paid to departed members who had sacrificed their lives in the battlefield against enemy movement initiated by the UNLF/MPA for the restoration and protection of the sovereignty of the motherland.
The key programmes of the observance included hoisting of the party flag at half-mast from 5 am to 5 pm at party and military units, observing a two-minute silence in honour of the departed members, offering floral tributes at memorial sites, reading out memorial messages and addresses by leaders of the organisation.
The statement added that the observance was held as a mark of respect and remembrance for the sacrifices and contributions of the deceased members of the organisation.
