RSS urges strict action in assault case involving Northeastern women

Delhi-based organisation Rashtrahit Sarvopari Sangathan (RSS) has demanded immediate arrests and strict legal action in connection with the alleged assault and molestation of Northeastern women in Delhi’s Nehru Place area, following a disturbing incident that reportedly took place outside a nightclub on Saturday night.
In a representation submitted on Monday to Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Home Minister of the Government of NCT of Delhi, the organisation expressed concern over the incident registered under FIR No. 0259/2026 at Kalkaji Police Station.
According to the complaint referred to in the representation, the victims, who belong to the Northeastern community, had gone to M-Houz Club in Nehru Place when an altercation allegedly broke out outside the premises. The women were reportedly subjected to racist remarks, verbal abuse and targeted harassment before the situation allegedly turned violent.
The complaint alleged that one of the victims was attacked with a bamboo stick and had her clothes torn during the assault. The accused persons allegedly continued issuing threats to the victims through social media even after the FIR was registered.
The organisation, through its founder president Sohan Giri, stated that the incident had caused widespread concern among Northeastern communities residing in Delhi and raised questions over women’s safety in the national capital.
The memorandum further alleged that the initial response from police at Kalkaji Police Station was “casual” despite the seriousness of the allegations. The organisation sought an inquiry into the police response to ensure accountability in handling sensitive cases involving women.
