Lions Clubs of Imphal Valley, Imphal Valley NextGen, Imphal Global, Imphal North, Imphal City, and Imphal Northern Hemisphere, in collaboration with NHM–NCD and the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur, under the leadership of Prof. Nongmaithem Romi Singh, PMJF, GMT District Coordinator–I, successfully organised a Multispeciality Mega Health Check-up and Paediatric Cancer Awareness Camp today at the IMA Market, Khwairamband Bazar.
The camp was attended by 425 beneficiaries, including women vendors from the three Ima Markets and residents from surrounding localities. A team of 18 medical specialists, comprising General Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), Orthopaedics, along with a dietician, provided consultations throughout the day. Supported by 42 dedicated health service staff from NHM–NCD and the Directorate of Health Services, the camp offered diagnostic and consultation facilities such as blood sugar testing, routine laboratory investigations, ECG, HIV screening, diabetes detection, and TB screening with on-site X-ray facilities. A Paediatric Cancer Awareness lecture was also delivered, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis, recognising warning signs, and seeking timely treatment to safeguard child health, thereby raising awareness among parents, caregivers, and community members.
The event was graced by Dr. N. Hemanta Kumar Singh, Director of Health Services, Government of Manipur, and Dr. Y. Premchandra, State Nodal Officer, NCD, Directorate of Health Services, who commended the collaborative effort in bringing essential healthcare services directly to the community. Senior Lions leaders, including Past District Governor Lion Haobam Manikumar, Lion M. Gojendra, and Lion Th. Kesho, also participated. A total of 54 Lions member volunteers contributed to the execution and delivery of the camp. The participating Lions Clubs reaffirmed their commitment to public health outreach and announced plans to organise more such community-oriented health initiatives across Manipur in the future, continuing their mission of serving with compassion, care, and a strong collective spirit.
