ILDS organises Free Monsoon Health Camp for journalists

The Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences (ILDS), Kawakeithel Heinoukhongnembi, in collaboration with the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union, organised a free monsoon health camp at the institute for media personnel.
During the camp, participants were provided screening services for Hepatitis B and C, FibroScan, ultrasound screening, cardiology check-ups, and ECG. Doctors also offered free consultations. In addition, the institute extended a 25 percent discount on laboratory tests and a 15 percent discount on prescribed medicines.
Speaking at the event, ILDS Managing Director Dr. Nongthongbam Surajkumar highlighted the growing health risks associated with irregular working hours, stress, and unhealthy dietary habits among journalists. He noted that frequent consumption of junk food and delayed meals have been contributing factors to rising liver- and stomach-related ailments. The health camp, he said, was organised to create greater awareness and encourage timely medical intervention.
ILDS further announced that similar camps will continue to be held periodically, ensuring sustained access to preventive healthcare services for journalists.
