There is no question of withdrawing the 3 Bills – Dy. CM

Deputy Home Minister Gaikhangam today said that there is no question of withdrawing the 3 government Bills passed by the state Assembly for implementation of permit system to outsiders in the state on August 31 this year. Speaking during the inaugural function of the Echel Express Daily Newspaper at Hafiz Hatta in Imphal East district, the deputy Chief Minister said that the 3 Bills passed by the state assembly do not content any provision that would hurt the sentiments of the tribal people neither it has any provision to override the existing laws of the Hill people. He also said that the content of the Bills have been published through newspapers and other media and those who studied it will be able to understand that the Bills has nothing to do with the interest of the tribal people.

Regarding the resignation of the 4 NPF MLAs, Gaikhangam said that the four NPF MLAs who had tendered resignation had not said a single word while the three Bills were moved by three Ministers including the leader of the House.

Regarding the mass agitation opposing the passing of the Bills at Churachandpur district and other parts of the Hill district, Gaikhangam said that those who spearhead the agitation against the three Bills do knows that there is nothing wrong in the Bills when it comes to the interest of the tribal people. But said that some vested interested people who always wanted to distort the unity of the state has been playing with the live of the common innocent people.

“Those people opposing the Bills have been invited for talk time and again by the government to sort out the differences, but none of the leaders or representatives had come up but continues to distort the peaceful atmosphere of the state” Gaikhangam said.

While adding that Naga, Meitei, Kuki, Muslims and other communities living together in the state from time immemorial are part of Manipur , the Deputy Chief Minister said that if one among the community has been taken out there can never be Manipur.

The inaugural function of Echel Express, daily morning newspaper was also attended by Govindas Konthoujam, Commerce and Industries Minister, Md Abdul Nashir, Agriculture Minister, Md. Amin shah, Parliamentary Secy, Md. Fazur Rahmin, Chairmen Wakf Board, Helim Choudhury, Retd IAS, Chairman Manipur Minority Commission, Wakhemcha Shamjai, Presient AMWJU and M Joy Singh DC Imphal East.

Editor of the newspaper is Irengbam Arun and the Chairman of the publication group is Jalaluddin.
