Ten houses gutted in devastating fire at Moreh Ward No. 5

A massive fire broke out at Moreh Ward No. 5 in Tengnoupal District late Friday night, destroying at least ten houses and reducing properties to ashes. The incident occurred around 11 p.m., near Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar No. 79, close to Indo-Myanmar Gate No. 2 in Muslim Leikai.
Upon receiving information, teams from the Manipur Fire Service (Moreh Sub-Station), Moreh Police, Commando personnel, and Assam Rifles, along with local residents, rushed to the site and battled the flames to prevent further spread. Firefighters from Myanmar also crossed the border to assist in the joint firefighting operation, demonstrating cross-border cooperation during the emergency.
Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, initial reports suggest that a short circuit might have triggered the blaze. All houses, belongings, and stored goods were completely destroyed in the fire. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties at the time of filing this report.
Following the incident, the Moreh Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damages.
