Zeliangrong bodies welcome revocation of ban by NSCN-IM

The Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB-AMIV), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF-AMN), and the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AZSU-AMN) have expressed gratitude to the NSCN-IM/GPRN for lifting the ban and the “de-recognised” status imposed on the Zeliangrong apex bodies since July 16, 2018.
In a joint statement issued by ZYF-AMN president Gai Anglung Gonmei and AZSU-AMN president D. Stephen Zeme, the organisations stated that the revocation of the ban was a significant step that would help foster unity and strengthen the collective spirit of the Zeliangrong Naga community across Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland. They viewed the decision as a positive move towards maintaining peace and mutual understanding within the Naga family.
The statement further noted that the lifting of the ban was not merely an administrative measure but a profound act of healing and recognition of the sentiments of the Zeliangrong community. It was described as a step towards restoring dignity, unity, and peaceful coexistence, while also signalling the beginning of a shared journey towards common aspirations.
The three organisations also acknowledged the role of the Collective Leadership of NSCN-IM/GPRN and the efforts of the Coordination Committee of the Zeliangrong Region, crediting their commitment and dedication for bringing an end to what they described as a long and painful chapter for the community.
