In a significant move aimed at revitalizing its organizational strength, the Manipur People’s Party (MPP) held a crucial meeting on July 18, 2025, at its office in Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal. The meeting, chaired by President S. Brojen Mangang, resulted in a sweeping reconstitution of the party’s leadership across key wings and cells.
The reshuffle includes appointments to the Working President posts, General Secretary roles, and several departmental secretaries, alongside leadership changes in the Youth Front, Women’s Wing (Chanura Marup), and various specialized cells. The party described the move as a strategic effort to streamline its internal structure and gear up for upcoming political challenges.
Moirangthem Sharatchandra Singh has been appointed as Working President (Administration), joined by Kh. Krishnachandra Singh for Organization, Dr. Sorokhaibam Ibomcha Singh as Chief Spokesperson and Media Coordinator, and Ningombam Ojit Singh for Political Affairs and Law.
The General Secretaries include Dr. Kakyenpaibam Muktasana Singh (Administration), O. Sarat Singh (Organization), and Oinam Gouding Meetei for Political Affairs and Election. Arambam Karamjit Singh continues to serve as the General Secretary for Media.
The Secretary panel comprises Ng. Oken (Administration), Irungbam Rabi Meitei (Organization), Konjengbam Romi (Media), and Chanambam Tomba (Election and Political Affairs).
Oinam Premdas has been named President of the MPP Youth Front, while N. Menaka Leima will lead the Women’s Wing, Chanura Marup.
The party also restructured its Cell Committee, appointing Maibam Amuba Singh (Chairman, Panchayat), Asheibam Bele Singh (Chairman, Loumee Lup), Elangbam Sovid Singh (Chairman, IT), and Khuraijam Sanjitkumar Singh (Chairman, Cultural Cell).
To strengthen its core policy and planning unit, the Central Committee now includes Thokchom Jotin Singh and Sherkhan Meinam.
