Ukhrul, July 6:
In a commendable move towards environmental conservation, Enfogal, a community-based initiative, celebrated Van Mahotsava by organizing a vibrant tree plantation drive at Kazar, Greenland, Ukhrul, Manipur. The event, held in the spirit of ecological responsibility and community engagement, saw the active participation of Enfogal members and dedicated interns, who collectively planted around 70 saplings.
Van Mahotsava, the annual festival of trees observed across India, served as a meaningful backdrop for the initiative. Enfogal’s campaign was not only about planting trees but also about nurturing a sense of environmental stewardship among the younger generation. Volunteers could be seen joyfully digging, planting, and watering saplings, symbolizing hope for a greener tomorrow.
The plantation drive focused on increasing the local green cover and restoring ecological balance in the area. The selected saplings included native species suited to the Ukhrul climate, ensuring sustainable growth and ecosystem support.
Enfogal’s efforts reflect its growing commitment to youth-led environmental action. By involving interns and local youths, the organization continues to foster a culture of eco-consciousness and proactive conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Ino.Yoyung Shaiza President of Enfogal led team member emphasized the importance of “planting today for a healthier future,” and expressed gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement.
Such initiatives are small yet powerful steps in combating climate change and environmental degradation. Enfogal’s tree plantation drive stands as a beacon of community spirit and ecological responsibility in Ukhrul.
