The Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur, has reconstituted and designated 19 specialised committees to strengthen the state’s COVID-19 control measures. This was issued through a memorandum dated June 12, 2025, superseding all previous orders. The committees, each headed by a designated team leader, will function under clearly defined responsibilities and include experts from various departments.
Dr. Chambo Gonmei, Director of Health Services, has been appointed as the Team Leader of the State Technical and Expert Advisory Committee, which comprises senior officials including Dr. N Hemantakumar, Director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Y Premchandra Singh, and Dr. M Vivekson, among others. The committee also includes medical superintendents from JNIMS and RIMS, representatives of departments such as paediatrics, community medicine, psychiatry, anaesthesiology, and forensic medicine, ensuring a comprehensive approach.
Among other key areas, quarantine management will be overseen by Dr. S Ingcoha, construction works by Dr. U Jugindro, and management of isolation wards and ICU screening by Dr. W Jubilee. Surveillance and screening will be supervised by Dr. S. Gopal Singh, while the state COVID control room will be handled by Dr. Roshan Keisham.
Waste management and oxygen supply will be coordinated by Dr. Homendro. Press release and media communication will be managed under Dr. Chambo Gonmei with a team of IEC consultants and specialists. Vaccine and cold chain logistics, ambulance management, home isolation protocols, psychological support, and private sector coordination have also been assigned to experienced professionals including Dr. Ksh Memcha, Dr. Y. Dennis, Dr. A Sylvia Devi, Dr. A Ranita, and Dr. Sujata Huidrom respectively.
The teams are directed to designate operational spaces within the Medical Directorate and are required to meet at least once a day or as directed. Matters needing urgent or technical attention are to be forwarded to the State Technical Expert Committee. Coordination between teams and departments will be overseen by the Director of Health Services. The memorandum has been circulated to all concerned departments, including the State Mission Director, and is aimed at ensuring a timely and structured response to any emerging COVID-19 challenges in the state.
