In a decisive step aligned with the Government of India’s policy of “Zero Tolerance” towards drug abuse, a 24×7 functional platform — National Narcotics Helpline-MANAS-1933 — has been officially launched to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse more effectively.
The helpline is now operational across the country and aims to provide timely assistance by integrating with the Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTFs) in all States and Union Territories. This integration is designed to enhance coordination and ensure prompt action against drug-related offences.
Citizens can dial 1933 to report incidents of drug trafficking or seek information and guidance related to rehabilitation and counselling services. The platform guarantees strict confidentiality of the informant’s identity, allowing individuals to come forward without fear of exposure or retaliation.
Beyond reporting, MANAS (Mobile Application for Narcotics Analysis and Surveillance) also serves as a digital awareness hub. It offers a wide range of educational materials including posters, videos and brochures that are freely accessible for viewing, downloading, and sharing through the official website: https://www.ncbmanas.gov.in/awareness.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to involve citizens in the national movement for a “Nasha Mukt Bharat by 2047”, encouraging proactive public participation in eradicating the menace of drugs from society.
