The Koireng-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has condoled the demise of Pvt. Moirangthem Nanao @ Ngamba (35), a member of the Meeyamgi Yawol Lanmee (MYL), the armed wing of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL).
In a condolence message, M. Shak-Hen, Secretary of Publicity, stated that Pvt. Nanao was martyred around 11 AM on May 19, 2025, during a fierce gunfight between the joint revolutionary forces and the Indian Army, supported by their proxy force KNF (B), near the Manipur–Myanmar border. He was fatally hit by a sniper bullet while on active frontline duty.
Hailing from Tuibong in Churachandpur district, Nanao was acknowledged for his commitment to the revolutionary cause. The Koireng led UNLF and its armed wing, the Manipur People’s Army (MPA), extended sincere condolences to his family and fellow comrades, honouring his contribution to the struggle for Manipur’s sovereignty.
Describing his death as a deep loss amid ongoing resistance against what they termed as systemic oppression, Koireng led UNLF noted that his sacrifice would be remembered with pride. The MPA also paid tribute, expressing solidarity with those continuing the movement for unity and freedom of Manipur.
