The 1st Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), Imphal Branch, titled CritiCon 2025, was inaugurated today at Jubilee Hall, RIMS. Organized in collaboration with the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, RIMS, the two-day conference is being held on the 10th and 11th of May, 2025, under the theme “Sharpening Intensive Care Skills, Saving Lives.”
The event brings together experts, practitioners, and academicians to promote knowledge sharing and best practices in critical care medicine. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal, as the Chief Guest, while Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS, Imphal, presided over the function as the President. Dr. Sachin Gupta, General Secretary of ISCCM and Director of Critical Care at Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Gurgaon, attended as the Guests of Honour.
Other attendees included Prof. Gojendra Rajkumar, Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology, RIMS; Dr. S. Thoibahenba Singh, Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology, JNIMS; Assoc. Prof. L. Eshori, Joint Organizing Secretary; Prof. L. Chaoba Singh, Organizing Chairman; and Dr. T. Kennedy Singh, Organizing Secretary of the 1st CritiCon Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma stated, as an organizer from RIMS Imphal, I extend a warm welcome to all delegates attending the inaugural CritiCon, organized by the ISCCM Imphal Chapter. The theme—Sharpening Intensive Care Skills, Saving Lives—emphasizes the importance of timely, evidence-based critical care. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need for robust ICU systems and skilled intensivists. This conference marks a step in strengthening intensive care in Manipur and the Northeast.
The two-day conference featured a nursing workshop cum CME on “Care of Patients in the ICU,” a POCUS workshop, and paper and poster presentations for postgraduate students. Credit points were awarded by the Manipur Medical Council (MMC) and Manipur Nursing Council (MNC). Speakers from various specialties delivered insightful lectures on critical care topics throughout the event.
A souvenir titled 1st CritiCon Imphal 2025, commemorating academic and clinical contributions to critical care medicine in the region was also released as a part of the event.
