Imphal, April 21:

In a concerted effort to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and restore normalcy in conflict-affected regions of Manipur, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, launched a series of intelligence-based operations across the hill and valley districts of the state from April 13 to 19, 2025. The operations, carried out in close coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, led to the apprehension of cadres, destruction of training camps, and recovery of a significant cache of arms, explosives, and other warlike stores.
During the week-long operations conducted in Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Imphal East, and Imphal West districts, security forces recovered a total of 22 weapons, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, various types of ammunition, and other military-grade equipment.
On April 13, acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of arms and ammunition in the Sanasabi area of Imphal East district, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Manipur Police led to the recovery of four improvised mortars, grenades, ammunition, and other stores. On the same day, in Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a coordinated operation in Gelmoul village, resulting in the destruction of a training camp used by armed cadres.
Continuing their efforts, security forces conducted another operation on April 16 in Saidan, Churachandpur district, based on precise intelligence inputs. The Indian Army and Manipur Police recovered seven weapons, including a .303 rifle, 9mm pistol, modified carbine machine gun, single barrel rifle, an 81 mm modified mortar, and two country-made mortars, along with ammunition and warlike stores.
On April 17, three separate intelligence-based joint operations were carried out by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in Imphal West, Imphal East, and Tengnoupal districts. In Sanjebam, Imphal East, security forces recovered five weapons, including an AK rifle, SLR, 9mm carbine machine gun, a modified single barrel rifle, and a pistol, in addition to ammunition and other materials.
A second operation in Imphal East led to the recovery of four more weapons—one 7.62mm SLR, a 7.65mm pistol, and two single-barrel breech-loading rifles (SBBL)—as well as grenades, ammunition, and warlike stores.
In Tengnoupal district, a joint operation in the Salvom area resulted in the recovery of two pistols and 10 IEDs, along with grenades, ammunition, and related materials.
All recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and legal action.
