Security Forces step up operations across State to maintain law and order

Imphal, April 19:

In a bid to maintain peace and public order amid ongoing tensions, security forces carried out extensive search operations and area domination exercises across both hill and valley districts of Manipur. The operations focused on fringe and vulnerable areas, where incidents of unrest and sporadic violence have been reported in recent months.
As part of the state’s security and logistics coordination efforts, authorities also ensured the safe movement of essential goods. A total of 267 vehicles transporting food supplies, medicines, and other vital items were escorted along National Highway 2 (NH-2), while 60 vehicles were similarly facilitated along National Highway 37 (NH-37). These convoys were provided with strict security cover, especially along sensitive and high-risk stretches of the highways.
To further strengthen internal security, a total of 110 Nakas and checkpoints were set up in strategic locations across various districts. These included both urban centres and remote areas. Security personnel were deployed to maintain round-the-clock vigilance, checking vehicles, monitoring movement, and verifying identification to prevent any untoward incidents. However, no detentions or major seizures were reported during the course of these operations.
Officials stated that such measures are part of sustained efforts to restore normalcy in the state, while also ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of essential services. “We are committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of the people. Our forces are working tirelessly to secure all vulnerable zones,” said a senior police officer.
The situation continues to be closely monitored by both state and central agencies. Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security forces and report any suspicious activities, assuring that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent the escalation of conflict and safeguard public welfare.
