The Pabung Iboyaima Memorial Trust (PIMST) held a solemn function today to mark the 8th death anniversary of Pabung Iboyaima. The event took place at 10 a.m. at the Kwakeithel Akham Leikai Community Hall, near the AMUCO office, under the theme “Pabung Iboyaima & the Idea of Manipur.”
The gathering was attended by numerous dignitaries, including KH. Gopen Luwang, President of IFM and Convenor of PIMST, and PH. Nando Luwang, President of AMUCO, along with prominent figures from various organizations such as AMAWOVA, AMMUC, MSF, COHR, NRC, and AMACSU.
Pabung Iboyaima, regarded as the “Father of Social Work,” lived to be 100 years old and dedicated his life to serving the community. In his address, Nando Luwang emphasized the theme of the event, stating, “The idea of Manipur is breaking now. This is against the dream of Pabung Iboyaima.”
KH. Gopen Luwang also addressed the audience, highlighting the increasing demands for union territory status and statehood by various communities, asserting that these demands conflict with the foundational idea of Manipur envisioned by Pabung Iboyaima.
