Govt. working seriously for release of the two hostages

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh led a solemn floral tribute to Jana Neta Hijam Irawat at Hijam Irawat Square in Imphal West today. The event drew attention to the legacy of Irawat while emphasizing the need for unity among the people of Manipur to realize his vision for a better state.
During the tribute, N. Biren Singh expressed deep concern over the recent abduction of two youths by suspected Kuki militants. He assured the public that both the state and central governments are making significant efforts to secure their safe release. “The situation is deeply unfortunate,” he stated, revealing that while one youth had been freed, two others remain in captivity with no contact from their families.
In addressing the media, Singh confirmed that the Director General of Police (DGP) has been dispatched to negotiate with relevant parties involved in the hostage situation. He urged the families of the victims to remain calm, highlighting that the authorities are fully committed to their rescue. “The State and Central governments are closely monitoring the situation 24/7 and exploring every possible effort for the safe return of the two individuals,” he added.
The program was attended by Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and senior civil and police officials, underscoring the collective concern for the community’s safety and the urgent need to address the ongoing crisis.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh has issued an urgent appeal for the safe release of two youths, Oinam Thoithoi and Thokchom Thoithoiba, who were abducted on September 27th after mistakenly taking the wrong route. The party has called for their release on humanitarian grounds, urging those responsible to ensure their safety.
In addition to this appeal, the BJP Manipur has extended its heartfelt gratitude to all individuals involved in securing the safe release and return of Ningombam Johnson, who was reunited with his family recently.
