Student Union continues hunger strike at Dhanmanjuri University

IT News
Imphal, July 11:

The hunger strike organized by the Dhanmanjuri University Student Union (DMSU) demanding the appointment of a regular Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and other key officials has entered its third day. The hunger strike began on July 9.
Kiran Huidrom, the Socio-Cultural Secretary of DMSU, emphasized the urgency of their demands: “We are demanding the appointment of a regular Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and other key officials. We have been protesting for a long time, but our voices are not being heard.”
The hunger strike has led to the deterioration of the health of several students. “Currently, 15 students, including 12 boys and 3 girls, are participating in the hunger strike. The students’ health is a growing concern, with two undergraduate students already hospitalized and one female postgraduate student’s condition worsening,” Kiran Huidrom added.
Despite the university authorities issuing an advertisement for the recruitment of a Vice-Chancellor, the students insist that other essential positions must also be filled promptly to ensure the proper functioning of the university.
