Hingminnasi Meepham, an initiative promoting coexistence, at Mandop Yumpham Relief Camp in Khurkhul was held today. The event, organized by VWF and Mandop Yumpham Relief Camp Committee. In the function, Ningthemcha Sanayaima, popularly known as RK Meghen, former rebel leader, Ashang Kasar, social worker, Kangjam Guni Devi, and Wahengbam Tomba Meitei participated as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and President respectively.
While emphasizing the need for coexistence for collective survival, RK Meghen expressed concern that “the idea of coexistence has been shattered due to the ongoing conflict initiated by individuals from Burma attacking the Meiteis.” According to Meghen, “the Kukis will persist until the forces supporting them refrain from perpetuating this conflict.” He squarely placed responsibility on the Indian government, asserting that it was expected to take charge and foster coexistence among the diverse communities in Manipur.
Ashang Kasar, addressing the victims of the conflict residing in relief camps, acknowledged the dire situation, stating, “Our land is full of misery and suffering, and we do not even have access to basic facilities.” He urged the need for leaders who can actively work towards bringing prosperity to both the hill and valley regions. The event aimed to not only discuss the imperative of coexistence but also shed light on the pressing issues faced by those affected by the conflict and residing in relief camps.
