Pangal Students’ Union, Dhanamanjuri University, a dedicated advocate for historical accuracy and inclusivity, strongly urges the government to rectify a historical oversight concerning the brave Pangal women who actively participated in the Nupi Lan of 1939. It has come to our attention that the official list commemorating the women’s agitation of 1939 fails to recognize the significant contributions of Pangal women vendors from Khwairamband Bazar at Imphal. The denial to acknowledge these brave mothers is not just an oversight; it is an affront to their sacrifice and a stain on our shared history.
Pangal Students’ Union-Dhanamanjuri University further stated that the bring to light the valor of those Pangal women who faced imprisonment for their role in demolishing the Kasturi Godown. It is a matter of shame and unacceptability that, for the past 80 years, these courageous women have been overlooked. We urge the concerned authorities to rectify this historical blunder, to be inclusive, and to recognize the invaluable contributions of these brave mothers.
Pangal Students’ Union-Dhanamanjuri University call upon the concerned authorities to rectify this omission promptly, acknowledging the bravery of Pangal women and ensuring their rightful place in the historical narrative.
