Day after the mass exodus of Meitei from Mizoram following a so-called advisory by PAMRA (Peace Accord MNF Returnees’ Association), the All Assam Manipuri Students Union (AAMSU) has served retaliatory advisory to Mizos living in Barak Valley of Assam to vacate the area at the earliest possible time.
“As most of the Meiteis living in Mizoram happens to be from Assam, the unruly behaviour of Mizoram has already escalated anger among the Meiteis of Assam, therefore for their own safety we advise the Mizos living in the Meitei areas of Barak Valley to vacate the area at the earliest time possible”, a statement by AAMSU said.
The exodus of Meiteis from Mizoram began following a warning issued by surrendered militant group PAMRA (Peace Accord MNF Returnees’ Association).
The AAMSU also expressed strong resentment to both the Mizoram government and the elite groups for their involvement in the fuelling of the violence in Manipur since the beginning.
“MZP issued a threatening notice to the Meiteis living in Mizoram on 30th April 2023 even before the Kuki narco-terrorist declared war upon native Meiteis in Manipur on 3rd May, 2023. The recovery of arms and other war materials in Mizoram by security forces meant for Kuki militants to create havoc in Manipur as well as provocative speeches against Meitei in the name of Zo solidarity says it all”, the AAMSU statement said.
The AAMSU statement said that the Meitei in Assam will extend any possible and necessary support to Meitei at this crucial juncture.
“At this crucial juncture of the Manipur turmoil we stand in solidarity with our Meitei kins in Manipur who are being attacked by warmonger Kuki Zo tribes”, AAMSU said.
The statement appealed to the Mizoram government to stop playing double games by pretending to show concern for Meiteis on one hand and giving free hands to anti-Manipur activities in Mizoram by allowing them to target the helpless Meiteis on the other hand.
