Imphal, Feb 28:
Pei customary court, Longmai in a clarification has stated that the incident at which the Helicopter that flied Union Minister of State, External Affairs and Education, Govt. of India on February 26 at Noney was not related with any election related activities.
In a statement by Gongjai kamei Secretary Pei customary court, Longmai said that reports published in several media targeting certain individuals and groups for causing disturbances at the Longmai Churches Fellowship (LCF) ground, Noney on Feb 26, has generated misleading information among the people of the State.
“ The press statement accusing Gaidon Kamei and his supporters for the unfortunate incident is nothing but to traduce and create confusion among the people. This was deliberately planned and executed with an ulterior motive to tarnish his good image. He is a good leader and true to his words, he still lends his unconditional support to the party, and he continues to remain loyal to the party”, it said.
The visit of RK Ranjan, Union Minister of State, External Affairs and Education, Government of India comes as a surprise to everyone in the village. The Helipad site is owned by Longmai Churches Fellowship (LCF), Noney. And as such, prior assent has to be taken from the authority concerned before using the site. Moreover, no village leaders were informed about the visit of the Minister. While we regret the unfortunate incident, there are individuals who use the whole incident to cover up their failure and propagate hatred and confusion among the people by giving false information and false narrative to the media.
Anyone trying to breach the integrity of Noney (Longmai) for vested interest will be dealt swiftly according to customary law of the village.
The statement further said that the misleading news has created and painted the whole unfortunate incident as a poll related violence. The incident has nothing to do with any party, and it is also not related with the election of 2022. However, the whole incident was a spontaneous protest staged by the womenfolk of Noney (Longmai) village against Dinganglung Gangmei, alias Dipu Gangmei for his provocative remarks against the village of Noney (Longmai) and its people. In one of his audio clips, he was saying, “We will all be dead if we continue to follow people from Noney (Longmai)”. The said audio clip also went on to narrate a highly provocative statement against the leaders of the village.
The Noney (Longmai) Customary Court expressed strong condemnation terming it as wild allegations and demanded an unconditional apology from Dinganglung Gangmei. The people of Noney (Longmai) will accept nothing less than the personal appearance of Shri Dinganglung Gangmei in the Court of the village, it added.
