Governor of Manipur La. Ganesan appealed to all sections of the society to disseminate message amongst the people irrespective of caste, creed and religion to come forward voluntarily for Covid-19 Vaccination.
Speaking at an Interaction Programme on Vaccination of Students in the age group of 15-18 yrs and Teaching & Non-Teaching Staffs today at City Convention Centre in Imphal, Governor said, vaccination is the best way to save our valuable life from the jaws of death due to Covid-19 . He said people should not have faith in any baseless wrong conception regarding Covid-19. Despite all the hurdles faced by our Nation, we are now almost able to overcome this dreaded disease but still a lot need to be done. The relentless efforts and dedication made by Doctors, Scientists and frontline workers to their duties are indeed commendable and praiseworthy by all the people of the Nation. La. Ganesan further said that apart from making appeal to all, meetings of religious leaders of all communities had convened at Raj Bhavan and urged them to disseminate messages to the people to come forward for vaccination. Governor expressed his satisfaction over the initiative taken up by the Education and Health Departments to vaccinate students of age group 15-18 yrs.
Commissioner of Education (S) M. Joy Singh said, Covid pandemic has been a global issue and all have to be united to fight the pandemic. Director of Education (S) L. Nandakumar while giving a detail report regarding the vaccination drive said, out of 1,07,701 students of age group 15-18yrs in the State, 59.14% have been vaccinated and Pherzawl District has recorded 86.71 % vaccination which is the highest in the State till date. 97.58% of teaching & non-teaching staffs have been vaccinated, he added. Principals and Head Masters from across the State participated in the Interaction Programme directly and virtually.
