Women pioneers of the state who had dedicated whole their lives to protect the people and the state of Manipur and who were instrumental to the formation of āPoirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lupā- a women organization which dare heat and rain for the cause of the integrity of the state and the human Rights.
The āPoirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lupā today observed the 35th Foundation day at Khuyathong Pukhri Achouba Papal , here in Imphal West by maintaining Covid behaviors. In connection with the 35th anniversary of the organization, representatives of various CSOs who were attending the anniversary paid floral tributes to the portraits of the three imas – āPoirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lupā
The āPoirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lupā was formed on this day of 1986 to discuss the issue faced by the youths of the state and simultaneously for protection of the fate of the youths at a time when security forces started aggressive operations making uncertainty to the live of the youths under the shadow of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). Under the leaderships of the brave Manipuri mothers, various movements demanding justice were spearheaded against rape crime, fake encounters and force disappearance.
Speaking on the occasion President of the Poirei Leimarol Ima Longjam Memchoubi said that the haunt by APSPA still remains a horror to the people. Relatives of the victims of the AFSPA who were rape, killed in the staged encounter,s and involuntarily made disappearance people still is not dried, Ima Memchoubi said.
āLet the people of the state uphold the year-long courage of the weak mother but courageous enough to stand up against any form of human Rights Violations in the state. Meira (Torch) is the gift of the almighty to the mothers of the state for the protection of our childrenā, Ima Memchoubi said.
In connection with the 35th foundation day of the āPoirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lupā donated 2 bags of rice each, 1 bag of rice, 5 litres of edible oil, and snacks to BB Paul Mental Development Home and Yaibirel Children Home.
