Protest Stage against Non-Release of Flood/ Landslide Relief Fund

Flood Victims Demand Committee Chandel and Beneficiaries of Chakpikarong Block Supported by Chiefs of Chakpikarong Block, Chandel District today organised a sit-in-protest at Chakpikarong Bazar, Against Delay Payment of Final Bill of Families Affected by Devastating flood and Landslides occurred in the week of August, 2015, in Chandel District, Manipur State.
After Sit in Protest a memorandum addressed to Governor of Manipur Dr.Najma Heptulla, Chief Minister of the State N.Biren, B.C.Behera Director (RH) Ministry of Rural Development Krishi Bhavan New Delhi, Youth Affairs & Sports and IFC Letpao Haokip, Works Minister Th.Bishwarjit and Chief Secretary Suresh Babu,IAS was submitted through the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel.
According to Memorandum said that In the month of January, 2017, first payment was resumed to deposits, through e-payment banking at Imphal by Secretariat RD Wing concerned amount permitted Rs. 4,29,97,5OO(Four crore twenty nine lakh ninety seven thousand five hundred). Purpose allocation for 1st installment of Central share for the year 2016-17 for implementation of I.A.Y (SP) scheme in Chandel District total beneficiaries 1225 approved project proposal.
The Minister of Rural Development, Government of India, vide no. -J-12026/2/2015-RH(A/C) Manipur dated 01/12/ 2015 addressed to the Joint Secretary (RD & PR) Government of Manipur, finance Department, Government of Manipur encashment permission UO.No.EP/20/21/ 2016-2017,it’s said.
It’s said flood Wctims Demand Committee Chandel, an affected Villagers Chiefs of Chakpikarong Block have strongly appeal/humble request to the government of Manipur to intervene final bill availing. Without delay for the interest of beneficiaries of Chandel District, concern BDO’s/SDO & DRDA DC Office, Chandel has been completed utilization certificate (UC), for final payment claim so far, submitted to the related authorities to the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
Speaking to the media persons, one protestor told that natural disaster affected several villages of Chandel Districts particularly the villages in and around Chakpikarong area due to heavy rainfall in month of July and August 2015, besides, losing of several houses and other properties.
