Common people suffer as blockade enters 6th Day

6th Day with no solution, the UNC continues the high way blockade with no turning back to their resolution of September 1 meeting at Tangkhulong Ground Ukhrul. The dead of two civilians – Ramkashing Vashi and R Mayopham perhaps turn out to be a boon to the UNC for raising the age old pending issue for demand of a separate administration. Notwithstanding the fact that the genesis of the present turmoil is the excessive behaviour of the NSCN-IM cadres who had allegedly assassinated the ADC member of Ukhrul at Finch Corner in Ukhrul district. Aftermath of the incident and follow-up action of the state government was timely and appreciable as those alleged to have been involved were rounded up and produced before the court of law. But exaggeration or perhaps lack of proper understanding about the probable politics by the x-factor has created the present situation. The right move has now been receiving severe criticism as excessive use of force was not controlled by the then government machineries. Why should there be prohibition under section 144 of the CrPC after the arrest of the NSCN-IM cadres? Why the state government should deployed the unnecessary number of Manipur Police Commando all of a sudden, when they could have used the Assam Rifle trooper station at Ukhrul district?  It appears that the present turmoil is the outcome of the inefficiency of the district administrator who had failed to submit report on ground reality understanding the sentiments of the common people. Or is there an intention among some people in the government who had always wanted to engineer the present situation. A matter, which needs to be pondered upon by all responsible citizens of the state. The reality is that the state government inability to solve the problem arises out of the August 30 Ukhrul incident created a panicky situation as the thin line of partition is appearing clearer day after another. It is an open secret that some external force has been endlessly playing games to distort the unity of the state. Moreover, prices of the essential commodities have been sky rocketed in Imphal market. Petrol and diesel are distributing on rationing basis at oil depot, giving opportunity to only few of the privileged class of people. We the Manipuri have seen the impact of the High Way blockade. And it was ultimately those who live on hand to mouth who will be suffered most due to this blockade. The so called common people mentioned here include the Meitei, Tangkhul, Kuki, Muslim, Paite, Hmar, Kabui, Anals, Maring etc.  Common have always been used as scapegoat. Should we allow this to continue?
