The All Manipur VDF Employees’ Welfare Association has expressed appreciation towards the State Government following a positive meeting held on May 17, 2025, between the Association’s Central Committee and government representatives. According to the Association, the government has given a concrete assurance to initiate the file processing of various long-pending grievances within a specific timeline of two months.
During the meeting, key issues raised by the Association reportedly included the implementation of Section 18 of the Police Act, 1861, an increase in pay, and regularization of VDF services. The Association extended its gratitude to N. Ashok Kumar, IAS, Commissioner (Home), for his proactive engagement, as well as to the Superintendents of Police from Imphal West, Imphal East, and Kangpokpi districts, who represented the Police Department during the discussion.
In view of this development, the Association has announced through the media that it will suspend its ongoing “Gun Down and Pen Down” indefinite strike for a period of two months, pending the fulfilment of the commitments made by the government.
The Association further acknowledged the government’s willingness to engage in constructive dialogue and work towards a mutually acceptable solution. It also appreciated the support extended by various civil society organizations, public groups, and political parties in bringing attention to the legitimate concerns of VDF personnel.
