Security forces defuse IED, arrest three militants

Security forces successfully neutralised a 51mm Improvised LLG bomb discovered at Terakhongshangbi Maning Laithel, located under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district. The device, suspected to have been planted with malicious intent, was defused safely by a specialised bomb disposal unit.
Local residents alerted authorities upon noticing the suspicious object, prompting swift action from law enforcement agencies. The bomb squad carried out a controlled neutralisation, ensuring the safety of the surrounding population. Splinters recovered from the site have been handed over to forensic experts for further examination. An investigation has been initiated to trace the origin of the explosive and its potential links to insurgent groups. Officials praised the timely and efficient response of the bomb disposal team, stating that their swift action prevented a possible tragedy.
Meanwhile, in separate operations carried out in Imphal East and West districts, security personnel apprehended three active cadres of different proscribed militant outfits.
In Imphal West, an active member of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) was arrested from Lamdeng Awang Leikai under Lamsang Police Station. The arrested individual has been identified as Yumnam Premkumar Singh alias Nongthang (31), a resident of the same locality. Authorities stated that he was involved in extorting money from elected representatives and educational institutions. Two mobile phones and a yellow Vespa scooter (MN01/AE-1745) were seized from him.
In Imphal East, a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Noyon/MFL faction) was arrested from Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen under Lamlai Police Station. The arrested has been identified as Manoharmayum Kabichandra Sharma alias Rajo (28), a resident of Lamlai Mayai Leikai. His role in the outfit is being investigated.
Another operation led to the arrest of a People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-PRO) cadre from Heirangoithong near the Fish Arcade Shop under Singjamei Police Station. The accused, identified as Kangabam Raju Singh alias Purel (42) of Sagolband Kangabam Leikai, was found with a mobile phone, a wallet containing Rs. 80, and a voter ID card.
Investigations are ongoing in all cases.
