The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in collaboration with the Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association (MAAMBA), organized a Cycle Rally today in celebration of World Bicycle Day 2025. The rally aimed to promote eco-friendly transportation, physical fitness, and public health awareness.
The event was flagged off from Jubilee Hall, RIMS, by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, in the presence of Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital. Addressing the participants, the Director expressed pride in RIMS’ active observance of the global event and underscored cycling as a powerful tool in combating lifestyle diseases. He commended the enthusiastic participation of faculty, staff, and students, and extended gratitude to MAAMBA for their support.
The cyclists covered key city routes including BRTF Lamphel, Watham Leirak, Assembly Road, North AOC, Nityananda Chuthek, and Kwakeithel Traffic Point, before concluding at Ideal Club, Tera Bazar. An awareness program highlighting the health and environmental benefits of cycling was held at the venue.
The event saw participation from Heads of Departments, Deputy Director (Administration), faculty, staff, MAAMBA members, and students of RIMS.
