Mass tree plantation program in memory of Lamyanba Irabot launched

The Protection & Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) and the Lamyanba Irabot Ningshing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC) have launched a mass tree plantation program at Yousulakpa Khoudem Ching Moirang, commemorating the legacy of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot. The initiative underscores their commitment to environmental conservation and the protection of Manipur’s natural heritage.
The program was attended by prominent figures including PPCM Convenor Nando Luwang, LINTOC Convenor K. Thoiba, and Co-convenors Shyam Khuman, Y. Tiken, and Gopen Luwang. The event aimed to honor Lamyanba Irabot’s vision of Manipur through substantial reforestation efforts.
K. Thoiba, Convenor of LINTOC, stated the significance of preserving the environment and highlighted that the mass tree plantation was a crucial step towards this goal.
PPCM Convenor Ph. Nando Luwang reiterated the importance of continuing Lamyanba Hijam Irabot’s legacy of environmental stewardship. He expressed concern over the increasing encroachment on forest areas and the expansion of poppy cultivation in Manipur, which threatens both the environment and local ecosystems.
