The Kakching District Badminton Association organized a felicitation ceremony today at Kakching Lamdong, honouring its founding members, managing committee members, and medal winners from various National and State-level tournaments.
Naorem Shyamkumar, Secretary of the Association, shared that the Kakching District Badminton Association was established before 1980 with the vision of nurturing young talents in the sport. He noted that while support for sports was limited in the past, there has been a significant shift in recent times. “Earlier, parents were hesitant to support their children in sports. Now, not only the players but their parents are actively encouraging them. It’s a positive change,” he said.
Naorem Praveen, Secretary of YAS, MA/OBC, and Education(S), speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest highlighted the importance of public contribution in sports development. “For the creation of playgrounds and sports infrastructure, land donation by the public is crucial,” he said.
Today’s programme was also attended by Naorem Britain, President of Kakching District Badmintion Association as President and Kshetrimayum Dharmadas, Kakching District Olympic Association as Guest of Honour.
