Imphal, Oct 31:

The 30-day Bamboo and Cane Processing Training, held at Manipur University, Canchipur, concluded with a deeply moving ceremony, highlighting the resilience of displaced participants from Churachandpur and Moreh. Organized by the North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) in collaboration with The Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur, and supported by the Department of Forestry at Manipur University, the training aimed to support those affected by Manipur’s ongoing crisis.
Chief Guest and Adviser (Horticulture), NEC, Mangsatabam Iboyaima Meitei, delivered an inspiring speech, recognizing the hardships endured by participants, many of whom were forced from their homes on May 3, 2023, due to the conflict involving Kuki militants. Meitei’s words resonated deeply, offering encouragement and empathy to those seeking a fresh start through the skills training.
Distinguished guests, including Prof. Gopal Kumar Niroula Chhetry and Dr. Huidrom Birkumar Singh, expressed that the program served as both a skill-building and emotional healing experience. Other notable attendees included Dr. Kh Somorendro, N. Somorendro Singh, Pangambam Rajendro, H. Priyokumar, N. Loyalakpa, and Chongtham Sanjoy Singh.
