Critically acclaimed Manipuri Novel “Bir Tikendrajit Road” released in Bangla translation

Esteemed translator and writer Shyamali Devi is pleased to announce the recent publication of her Bangla translation of Hijam Guno Singh’s celebrated novel, Bir Tikendrajit Road.
The original Manipuri novel received the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in 1984. Shyamali Devi, a resident of Tarapur, Silchar, and retired principal of the Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, undertook the significant task of translating this seminal work, making it accessible to Bangla readers.

Shyamali Devi has a long-standing passion for Manipuri literature and is well-versed in the Bangla language. Her previous translation credits include Dr. Kamal’s Madhabee, also published by Sahitya Akademi in 2009, and Subram Singha’s novels Pishinhoudraba Thesis and Meera Memsaheb. She is also the author of the Bangla poetry collection Alor Sandhya.
