An awareness programme on the promotion of oil palm cultivation was held at Kakching Khunou under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP). The programme was organised by Patanjali Foods Ltd. at the Kalching Khunou LP School Leikai, Ward No. 2, Tampak Yum in Kakching district.
The event saw the participation of key officials including M.S. Khaidem, Consultant of Oil Palm Mission Manipur; Koshi Kiran, State Head of Patanjali; Bronson, Public Relations Officer of Patanjali Foods Ltd.; and H. Anand Joy, Officer-in-Charge of NMEO-OP from the office of the Chief District Agriculture Officer, Thoubal. They each deliberated on various aspects of oil palm cultivation, the scope of the NMEO-OP scheme, and the support available to farmers.
Around 60 farmers took part in the programme and expressed keen interest in adopting oil palm cultivation in the region. One of the highlights of the event was the assurance given by the Consultant of the Oil Palm Mission regarding the provision of free saplings, intercropping assistance for four years, as well as backyard farming and sustenance support.
