Wung Tangkhul Region condemns KZVV-EZ’s claim over Ukhrul territories: Warns against provocations during Shirui Lily Festival

The Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) has issued a sharp condemnation against a press communiqué dated May 11, 2025, released by the Kuki-Zo Village Volunteer – Eastern Zone (KZVV-EZ). While acknowledging KZVV-EZ’s well-wishes for the upcoming Shirui Lily Festival and its significance in promoting awareness of the endangered Shirui Lily and sustainable tourism, WTR expressed strong objections to the territorial claims implied in the communiqué.
The press statement from KZVV-EZ suggested that certain villages within the Ukhrul region inhabited by Kuki communities are part of the so-called “Kukiland.” WTR described this assertion as “outrageous and provocative,” warning that any attempt by KZVV-EZ to disrupt the peaceful celebrations or target any community traveling to Ukhrul or Shirui Village would not be tolerated.
Making its stance clear, WTR stated that the territorial jurisdiction claimed under “Kukiland” does not extend “even an inch” into Naga territories within Ukhrul. WTR also warned that any misleading information disseminated through print or social media platforms would be regarded as a direct challenge to the NSCN-IM and the larger Naga community.
The WTR’s Secretary, N.G. Athot, signed the statement, reinforcing the GPRN’s commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Naga regions. As the Shirui Lily Festival approaches, WTR emphasized its vigilance against any provocations that could disrupt the event’s spirit of unity and cultural celebration.
