WTR passes key resolutions on Wildlife Protection and Non-Naga Workforce Control

Special Correspondent
Ukhrul, March 26:

The Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) of NSCN/GPRN, during its Leacy Hoho Session on March 7, adopted two crucial resolutions aimed at wildlife conservation and controlling the influx of non-Naga workers.
According to the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the first resolution mandates the creation of a legal framework to protect and preserve wildlife in WTR. The NSCN-IM has invited Tangkhul civil society organizations to collaborate on developing an effective and enforceable law for this purpose.
The second resolution focuses on regulating non-Naga workers in the region by halting the issuance of new work permits. However, existing permit holders may apply for renewals if needed.
These measures reflect WTR’s commitment to preserving its natural resources and safeguarding its socio-economic interests, reinforcing NSCN-IM’s broader vision of self-determination and cultural preservation.
