Imphal, April 21:
A two-day workshop on Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis commenced today at Sushruta Hall, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organized by the Department of Community Medicine, RIMS, Imphal.
The inaugural function was graced by Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Th. Meera, Dean (Academic), RIMS, presided over the function as President. The Organizing Chairperson of the workshop is Dr. H. Sanayaima Devi, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, RIMS, Imphal. Dr. R.K. Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director, RIMS, Imphal, was also present at the occasion.
The workshop aims to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses—an increasingly vital part of evidence-based medical research. On Day 1 (April 21, 2025), sessions covered topics such as an introduction to systematic review, preliminary steps including team building and formulation of research questions, defining inclusion and exclusion criteria, developing a search strategy, hands-on training with databases like PubMed, and the study selection process using Rayyan.
The sessions were facilitated by experts including Dr. Yuvaraj, Dr. Dhanajayan, Dr. Prem, and Dr. Shanthosh, who guided the participants through both theoretical and hands-on components of the review process.
The workshop continues on April 22, 2025, with further in-depth sessions and practical training modules aimed at enhancing the methodological rigor and competence of the attendees.
