TNL demands withdrawal of inflammatory threat notice against community movement during Shirui Lily Festival

The  Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has issued a strong directive demanding the immediate withdrawal of a “highly disturbing and inflammatory” threat notice circulated on social media, which called for the restriction of movement for a particular community during the upcoming Shirui Lily Festival 2025.
In a statement released after an Executive Council meeting held on May 14, 2025, presided over by TNL President, the organization emphasized its earlier directive from May 9, 2023, which strictly prohibits any individual or village from conducting frisking or checking of vehicles and passersby within TNL jurisdictions.
The Additional Secretary of TNL, Thanreingam Muivah, reiterated that while the Tangkhul Naga community sympathizes with the victims affected by the recent ethnic clashes in Manipur, it firmly maintains its neutral stance and refuses to be drawn into any conflict.
TNL condemned any attempt to involve the Tangkhul Nagas in the ongoing tensions, warning that the circulation of such provocative notices could disrupt peace and harmony during the festival. The organization urged all concerned to cease the spread of divisive messages immediately, ensuring that the Shirui Lily Festival remains a celebration of unity and cultural pride.
