As observed in other district of the State, Thoubal district administration also observed the “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day-2018” on the theme “Give Blood Save Life” today at the Counting Hall of DC Thoubal here jointly organized by District Health Society Thoubal, AVBDM Thoubal Branch and Blood Bank & Transfusion Unit District Hospital Thoubal.
Haobam Rosita, IAS, DC/Chairperson, District Health Society, Thoubal, Dr.N. Jayantakumar Slngh, CMO/ District Mission Director, DHS, Thoubal, Dr. Ksh. Memcha Devi, District Family Welfare Officer, Thoubal and Y.Lakshaman District Youth Coordinator of NYK Thoubal, attended the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
District Programme Manager, NHM Thoubal Ch. Basanta while giving his keynote address said that the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is held to thank especially all the voluntary blood donors and raise awareness on the need of donating more blood and promoting a safe and healthy life.
He further said the importance and benefits of donating blood voluntarily and added that a person can start donating blood after attaining 18 years. He lauded the blood donors for their humanitarian service.
As a part of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, a rally was also organized in which hundreds of students from different schools took part. The rally which started from LM High School, Athokpam culminated at Counting Hall of DC Thoubal where they joined the function. During the function, and 20 male and seven female donated their blood.
Later, 16 Voluntary Organisation have donated blood were felicitated by the organizers of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.
