Imphal, June 20:

Residents of Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai and Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai have voiced their grievances today while speaking to the press at Ibudhou Naothingkhong Pakhangba Mantop.
Maibam Samananda Singh, a resident of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai, addressed the media, expressing frustration over the lack of water supply despite the installation of water pipe connections in every household. He emphasized the urgent need for action from the Water Supply Department officials and local representatives, including the MLA of Thangmeiband and the Chief Minister.
Taorem Guneshori, Secretary of the Meira Paibi Secretary of Petanga Welfare Association, added to the concerns, stating that “water supply has been irregular since last year. Previously sourced from Singda dam, water availability has dwindled due to ongoing conflicts. Despite department claims of providing water for 30 minutes daily, it is insufficient for the growing population, exacerbated by the recent cessation of water from the reservoir atop Cheiraoching.”
Residents have resorted to pooling money to purchase water due to the inadequate and unreliable supply from the current source at Chingkhei Ching.
The protest underscored the pressing need for immediate solutions to ensure adequate and consistent water supply to the affected communities.
