Imphal, Dec 20: Tension grips Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency after escorts of MLA Brojen pull up two workers of the BJP including the secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha Tentha Unit and handed over to Khongjom Police station yesterday evening.
Report reaching here said that the security escort of MLA P Brojen assaulted the two BJP workers at Tentha around 3.00 pm yesterday and later they were taken along with them and handed over to Khongjom Police station. Following the news large number of people of Wangjin Tentha storm to the police station and demanded immediate released of the two.
The two BJP workers were identified as Naorem Kabilan (35 years) son of N. Mera and Tondomba of Tentha Troban. Kabilan is the general secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha Tentha Unit and Tondonba is his driver.
Vice president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, M Hemanta who rushed to the spot yesterday question if the MLA and his security escort are under the Khongjom Police station. He said both were pulled up by the security escort even after knowing that they are workers of BJP. The former minister also said that there were instances of BJP active member being threaten by the MLA and a complaint has been lodge against the pulling up of BJP workers by security escort.
Hemanta also alleged MLA Brojen of looting mobile phones belonging to both the BJP workers and appealed to return it back without delay.
Later, late in the evening the two BJP workers were released by the Khongjom Police.
