Tengnoupal district and Kangpokpi district inuagurated; Kuki rebel alerted following ambush to state force

Imphal, Dec 15: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today inaugurated Kangpokpi district and Tengnoupal district today. Of the 7 newly created districts 3 have been officially inaugurated.
Speaking at the inaugural function organised by the Tengnoupal district celebration Committee, at Tengnoupal Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that the district are being created for convenience of district administration.
On the attack to police force minutes before the inauguration, the Chief Minister said that attacking the police will bring no good. if there are issue it has to be settle through proper dialogue.
Deputy Chief Minister, Revenue Minister, Local MLA Village Chiefs and other civil society leaders were present during the inauguration of the newly created revenue district.
Later, the Chief Minister along with his Ministerial team inaugurated the Kangpokpi District.
Interestingly, at Kangpokpi Kuki armed groups operating at the area are stated to be in high alert following the news of the ambush to state force by suspected cadres of the NSCN-IM.
The NSCN-IM has been openly opposing the creation of the new district. A few days back the NSCN-IM which is presently ensuing in peace talk with the government of India has threaten serious consequences if the decision for creation of new district has not been withdrawn.
