Suspected Kuki militant leader apprehended in Guwahati

Gorchuk Police of Assam on Wednesday apprehended Haolungmang Samta, a leader of a suspected Kuki militant outfit, from the Boragaon area of the city.
The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs regarding Samta’s presence in the locality. According to officials, the Manipur-based militant leader had been hiding in Guwahati for an extended period prior to his arrest.
Following the apprehension, a team from Manipur Police arrived at the Gorchuk Police Station to take the suspect into custody, sources confirmed.
Authorities have yet to disclose the specific charges against Samta or the timeline for his transfer to Manipur for further legal proceedings.
