Joint Students’ Co-ordination Committee (JSCC), an apex body of AMSU, MSF, KSA and SUK condemn the Amar Chitra Katha’s Pvt. Ltd. latest edition of comic book Tribal Leaders of Freedom Struggle by including Paona Brajabashi in its list of tribal leaders of the Indian freedom struggle is very unfortunate.
JSCC expressed that our state of Manipur is ruled by the king independently. When British forces try to occupy us, we fight against the British forces. And also remember the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891 . In that war, our forefather Paona Brajabashi took a major role, and they offered sacrifices to the spirit for the motherland of Manipur. But what is unfortunate is that the comic book has shown Paona Brajabashi in the Indian freedom struggle.
JSCC appealed to comic book writers and the Amar Chitra Katha publishing house to apologize to the people of Manipur for what they have done wrong. The comic book is banned in the state of Manipur and cannot be sold in the book store.
JSCC also burn the comic book as a mark of protest.
