Imphal, Jan 13:

State government employees across the country are gearing up for a Parliament March on April 11, 2025, to protest against the central government’s privatization policy and raise various grievances faced by state government employees when compared to their central counterparts. The decision to organize the march was made during a two-day meeting of the All India State Government Employees Confederation, held at Mukesh Gupta Bhavan in Kolkata on January 5 and 6, 2025.
Meinam Joykumar, President of the Confederation’s Manipur Unit, shared the news with media personnel at the Manipur Press Club. He highlighted that state government employees, particularly teaching staff, have been facing numerous issues since the introduction of the new pension scheme, which replaced the old system. According to Joykumar, state employees are deprived of various benefits that central government employees receive.
He also expressed concern over the central government’s privatization policy, which he believes has adversely affected not only government employees but also common people and students. Joykumar pointed out that the privatization push has created a wider crisis for many sections of society.
Addressing the specific situation in Manipur, Joykumar noted that state government employees have struggled to attend work due to ongoing crises in the region. The issue was discussed in detail during the confederation’s meeting in Kolkata.
He further assured that employees’ bodies, including trade unions and other organizations from Manipur, would actively participate in the upcoming Parliament March. The march is expected to be a significant demonstration against the central government’s policies and to bring attention to the challenges faced by state government employees.
