Security Forces seize large cache of weapons and explosives

In a coordinated operation today morning, security forces in Kakching district successfully recovered a cache of weapons and explosives. Acting on reliable information, a combined team comprising of Kakching Commando (CDO) unit, personnel from Wangoo Police Station, and platoons from the 131-Bn C-Coy, and a platoon of 126 Bn A-coy conducted a search operation in the Wangoo Yellangba hill range. The operation, led by the Officer-in-Charge of the CDO unit Kakching and the Officer-in-Charge of Wangoo Police Station, was carried out under the overall supervision of Kakching Superintendent of Police, Thokchom Vikramjit Singh, MPS, and lasted from 6:55 AM to 9:10 AM.
During the search, the team recovered a double-barrel firearm marked “Royal Arm & Co,” a single-barrel firearm bearing body number 33778, three .36 HE grenades, one detonator, two helmets, four smoke grenades, one improvised explosive device (IED), fifteen empty .303 cartridges, and fifteen empty AK cartridges from a secluded area in the Wangoo Yellangba hill range. A case has been registered at Wangoo Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
