In response to the ongoing heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions, the District Administration of Senapati has ordered the temporary closure of all schools within the revenue jurisdiction of Senapati district on June 2 and 3, 2025.
In an order issued by Mamoni Doley, District Magistrate and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Senapati, the district has experienced incessant moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by high-speed winds since May 29, leading to floods, landslides, and mudslides. These weather events have caused widespread damage, particularly in and around the district headquarters.
The Indian Meteorological Department (Imphal Centre) has issued a Red Alert warning for several districts, including Senapati, and weather conditions show no signs of improvement. As relief and rehabilitation efforts continue, the district administration considers it necessary to take proactive steps to ensure the safety of students and educational staff.
